At our May meeting which was originally to have been a Quadruple Second – became instead a Triple ceremony, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of a packed Meeting Point House in Telford. Brothers Ryan Preece, John Watt and Harvey Greatrex (pictured with WM Simon Clare) became Fellow Craft Freemasons within seconds of each other.
Simon is also pictured with the successful Travelling Ashlar raiding party from Audley Lodge who claimed the Ashlar, with just five Visitors. They are from left Mark Yates, Dave Paget, David Brown, Steve Lister and Ben Roper
Around 70 Masons, including University lodge members from Liverpool, lodge of Harmony in Ormskirk and a deputation from the Lodge of Brevity in Southampton, witnessed a well conducted Ceremony led by The Worshipful Master, who had travelled up himself from Gillingham in Kent!
After reading the article about our lodge in Freemasonry Today, (Page 50), the Lodge of Harmony No. 580 away team thought it would be an excellent opportunity to visit this
Lodge to see how they are coping with their current drive on recruiting younger members, in particular the local Student population. Quite enviously, The Iron Bridge Lodge were conducting a 2nd Degree Ceremony with three Candidates / Craftsmen. The Ceremony of Passing for the three young men was done at a very high standard and all credit must go to every member who participated, especially the Deacons, their WM (Simon), DC (Tony) and a visitor who absolutely nailed the Explanation of the 2nd Degree TB. Afterwards Derek Gibson said “To see a Lodge room with approximately 70 people in attendance for a Triple 2nd Degree Ceremony was quite refreshing to be honest. Mike, Phil, Cilfford and I were made to feel extremely welcome last night and we’ve a feeling that we’ll return again at some point in the future.” The Lodge of Harmony No 580 would like to wish our Iron Bridge No 9897 colleagues all the very best for their future.
