Our Lodge welcomed a new Brother Initiate on the 6th February 2017 when V. W. Bro. Roger Pemberton, DPGM conducted an efficient Ceremony with assistance from W. Bro. Andy Delamere, W. Bro. Richard Webster, Bro. Josh and W. Bro. Jon Hughes.
Bro. Dom Howitt, the 9th candidate in two years to come into our lodge. Dom works for Cap Gemini and promises to be an enthusiastic addition to our lodge. W. Bro. Mike Parry was present to give an explanation of his Preparation.
The R.W. PGM Peter Taylor was also at the meeting and was delighted to present 9897’s first Grand Lodge Certificates to Brothers Colin Smith, Harvey and Josh. The PGM was able to announce that it was well on target towards its 2019 target, with 58% in the bank.
Our lodge has now qualified for our Junior Warden maul as we now have over 50% of our target either pledged or in the bank. The JW maul was duly presented by Festival Committee member and founder W. Bro. Richard Webster.
W. Bro. Andy Delamere (our first Worshipful Master) writes: “We were not set a target in 2014 when the festival was launched but after our consecration we were given a stretched target seeing as all 38 founders were in other lodges! Various social events, Direct Debit giving, Raffles, Gift Aid envelopes etc have seen us bank nearly £6,000 in the two years since our Consecration. Tonight we added to that total by presenting the R.W. PGM with a cheque for £1,000 raised last year by W. Bro. Simon Clare at various social events including a mammoth cycle ride from Kent to Telford in 2 days!”
The Travelling Ashlar, however, is on its way again, with a successful raiding party from Idsall Lodge, No. 7133 (pictured below) claiming the stone. There was also a party from Salopian Lodge, No. 262, swelling the numbers present to 65 on a cold February evening. Unsuccessful they may have been, but a good night was had by everyone who attended.
